Wear Your Floral Sheath One Last Time

Wear Your Floral Sheath One Last Time A89V5892 A89V5898 A89V5889

I have a serious love hate relationship with fall. It means summer is coming to an end. Bleh. It also means it is time for a wardrobe refresh… and who doesn’t love to go shopping for new finds?! Booties, oversized sweaters, knits and killer coats.

Pause button!

Before it cools down, I wanted to wear my summer florals one last time. This Milly sheath is feminine and fun but also has a sporty vibe with striping down the sides almost like track pants. And who doesn’t love orange, navy and white paired together?

Going to church or a friend’s bridal shower? I’d pair with nude strappy sandals or navy flat sandals in a rich leather. Running errands or hitting up brunch and the farmer’s market? Add a masculine edge with bulky leather slides (seen here) or consider  espadrilles. I also love the idea of navy or light gray/neutral colored New Balance sneakers from J Crew!

It may be a tad chilly so layering is key. Grab a jean jacket or denim vest as you head out the door and rock your fav summer sheath again this weekend!

After this wear, I’ll hang mine up for the season. Sad. But more fun fall styles to look forward to!

Back to Basics

Back to Basics: Sweater, Pumps and Great Denim A89V5603 A89V5616 A89V5595

Every woman I know owns a great pair of denim, black pumps and a black sweater of some sort.

They are amazing timeless staples that we reach for time and time again.

I love this effortless look.

Too basic for your taste? Play it up with a fun statement cuff or necklace. Throw on a wool hat. Or pair with a fabulous trench in a bold color.

Flirty Dress & Boyfriend Blazer

Top a Flirty Dress with a Boyfriend Blazer A89V5444 A89V5458 A89V5424

Yesterday a photo I submitted from my Who Says You Can’t Wear White after Labor Day post was selected as this week’s #brcontest winner by Banana Republic. See the winning Instagram post here.

In celebration and to give some love back, I thought I’d showcase another recent look from their fall line.

This flirty and fun ruffle print dress with spaghetti straps (it is longer in the back) is office appropriate when paired with a boyfriend blazer and feminine cross body. Even better?! You can slip off the jacket and you’re ready for post-work cocktails with friends. Happy Friday, everyone.

Style tips: Opposites attract. Combine masculine and feminine pieces. Pair shorter, loosely-fitted items with longer, more structured styles for juxtaposition and balance!

What are your favorite Banana Republic pieces? There are six more chance to win. Share your latest looks on social with tags #itsbanana and#brcontest for your chance to win a $100 gift card.

The Oh So Versatile Trench Dress

The Oh So Versatile Trench Dress A89V5502 A89V5512 A89V5492 A89V5526 A89V5490

I love this oh so versatile trench dress from Banana Republic. The olive-green is on-trend for fall and a great neutral shade that can be easily paired with other patterns, colors and textures.

Here, I buttoned only the top and then wrapped it closer to the skin and tied with its belt to better highlight the waist. For running errands, this look called for casual sandals, a larger satchel and oversized tortoise shades. The hat goes with everything. ; )

I’ll also wear this undone and open (think open trench coat) with skinny jeans, a printed pastel blouse or cami in a bold shade like mustard, feminine leather cross body and suede shoes.

Two totally different looks playing off one classic wardrobe staple!

Bravo, Banana Republic and Marissa Webb! What a positive influence she has had on this brand in only a few seasons. After a long hiatus, I’m a loyal customer again.

And even better?! I’d been swooning over the Marissa Webb version at Intermix that retails for nearly $500. With Webb in the creative driver’s seat at Banana Republic, we can have designer-inspired pieces at very affordable prices. I picked this dress up during a 50 percent off Friends & Family sale for $65. Deal!
