Your Guide to NYE Party Looks

We’re only a few days out from the big night. What will you be wearing?

Whether you head to the fanciest steak joint with your loved one, gather with old friends for food and laughter or paint the town red with your girls, this is the perfect night to show a bit more skin or wear something flashier. Think silk, sequins, leather and lace! Below are a few styles that work great for ringing in the New Year.

1) Sport a cape top with silky shorts and suede heels. The blouse provides a little more breathing room for a night of overindulgence and the sleeves add proportion to bare legs in winter months.

Shoes: B Brian Atwood (No longer available).  Try this great, affordable style.

2) Try a flirty romper with a feminine bag and strappy heels.  I love that this romper covers a bit more skin than most on the market. Again, play off proportions and show some leg but keep arms and chest covered. Or vice versa. You could also do a longer pant jumpsuit with a strapless top!  The open back and flouncy short bottom on this one offers subtle sex appeal without going over-the-top. See links below for a variety of jumpsuit/romper options.

3) Wear Sequins.  Hanging with friends at home? Dress the jacket down with flare jeans, pumps and a fun graphic tee. Or dress it up with a silk cami and black pants for a night on the town.

4) You can NEVER go wrong with a LBD.  This one by Amanda Uprichard comes in a faded black and features a beautiful high neckline which is very of-the-moment. I’ll keep it simple and pair with fun earrings or a gold cuff and black heels for a “classic, can’t fail”  look. Top with a leather jacket for extra oomph and added warmth when bar hopping.

Wear Your Floral Sheath One Last Time

Wear Your Floral Sheath One Last Time A89V5892 A89V5898 A89V5889

I have a serious love hate relationship with fall. It means summer is coming to an end. Bleh. It also means it is time for a wardrobe refresh… and who doesn’t love to go shopping for new finds?! Booties, oversized sweaters, knits and killer coats.

Pause button!

Before it cools down, I wanted to wear my summer florals one last time. This Milly sheath is feminine and fun but also has a sporty vibe with striping down the sides almost like track pants. And who doesn’t love orange, navy and white paired together?

Going to church or a friend’s bridal shower? I’d pair with nude strappy sandals or navy flat sandals in a rich leather. Running errands or hitting up brunch and the farmer’s market? Add a masculine edge with bulky leather slides (seen here) or consider  espadrilles. I also love the idea of navy or light gray/neutral colored New Balance sneakers from J Crew!

It may be a tad chilly so layering is key. Grab a jean jacket or denim vest as you head out the door and rock your fav summer sheath again this weekend!

After this wear, I’ll hang mine up for the season. Sad. But more fun fall styles to look forward to!

Curb Appeal

I love investing in classic staples that can be worn multiple ways, layered as seasons change and can be dressed up or down. This white button down (that ties in the front) and pixie cutoffs are two of my favs but they felt too simple and a tad too summery without a few fall accessories. Remember:  A couple of key statement pieces combined with the most basic items can seriously amp up any outfit and extend the length of time you can wear them.

To keep the look casual and add the masculine vibe I adore, I grabbed my black leather satchel and threw on calf hair loafers, a chunky watch and wool hat. A sunny day called for tortoise shades!
